En 1942, sous l’occupation allemande, la sculpture en bronze r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par Charles Th\u00e9odore Perron a \u00e9t\u00e9 retir\u00e9e de l’espace public en tant que monument comm\u00e9morant le travail. Comme tant d’autres monuments sur le territoire fran\u00e7ais, plus d\u2019un millier entre 1940 et 1945, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ue pour utiliser les mat\u00e9riaux de divers types d’industries, en particulier la guerre. De cette sculpture reste un socle vide avec l’inscription \u00ab\u00a0Hommage au travail\u00a0\u00bb, qui se trouve aujourd’hui sur une place d’Ivry sur Seine, aux portes de Paris. Le pi\u00e9destal exerce une sorte d\u2019inversion entre signification et signifiant, signalant sans cesse un monument au travail absent. Prenant cette faille sculpturale comme point de d\u00e9part, je demande \u00e0 plusieurs professionnels s’ils peuvent faire un croquis pour restituer ce monument. Les propositions de sculptures sont confi\u00e9es \u00e0 des designers 3D qui offrent leurs services sur une plate-forme virtuelle pour les freelances du monde entier, bas\u00e9e sur un flux continu de travaux immat\u00e9riels sous des param\u00e8tres de d\u00e9localisation, de comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9 et d’imm\u00e9diatet\u00e9.
\n\u00ab\u00a0Homepage to labour\u00a0\u00bb, qui joue dans son titre avec la similitude entre les mots \u00ab\u00a0hommage\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0homepage\u00a0\u00bb, est une \u0153uvre con\u00e7ue pour \u00eatre montr\u00e9e au mur et \u00e9galement lue ou vue comme une publication, dans un geste inachev\u00e9 qui en permette l’exposition, mais aussi son \u00e9ventuelle extension. Elle s’articule autour de la compilation de ces esquisses sculpt\u00e9es num\u00e9riquement et de l’utilisation des conversations qui configurent la commande.
\nLa conversation se compose d’extraits de diff\u00e9rents \u00e9changes, construisant un certain fil narratif en m\u00eame temps qu’il est fragment\u00e9, faisant allusion \u00e0 des espaces que nous ne voyons pas \u00e0 travers l’\u00e9cran et \u00e0 des temps interstitiels qui interrompent et r\u00e9v\u00e8lent un travail continu au pr\u00e9sent. De m\u00eame, les images envahissent partiellement d’autres pages, tentant de faire allusion, dans l\u2019ensemble, aux nouvelles g\u00e9ographies du travail dans un cadre de d\u00e9territorialisation et d’acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration des communications.

In 1942, under the German Occupation, the bronze sculpture made by Charles Th\u00e9odore Perron was removed from public space as a monument to work. Like so many other sculptures throughout France, more than a thousand between 1940 and 1944, it was cast to use the material in various types of industry, especially warfare. From this sculpture remains an empty pedestal with the inscription \u00ab\u00a0Hommage au travail\u00a0\u00bb, which is today in a square of Ivry sur Seine, at the gates of Paris.
\nThe pedestal exercises a sort of inversion between meaning and signifier, constantly pointing to an absent monument to work . Taking this lack of sculpture as a starting point, I ask several professionals if they can make a sketch to somehow restore this monument. Sculpture proposals are entrusted to 3D designers who offer their services on a virtual platform for freelancers from all over the world, which is based on a continuous flow of immaterial work under parameters of delocalisation, competition and immediacy.
\n\u00ab\u00a0Homepage to labour\u00a0\u00bb, which takes in its title the similarity between the words \u00ab\u00a0homage\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0homepage\u00a0\u00bb, is a piece conceived to be shown on a wall and also read or seen as a publication, in an unfinished gesture that allows its exhibition, but also its possible extension. It is articulated around the compilation of these digitally sculpted sketches and the use of the conversations that configure the commissioning. The conversation is composed by extracts from different conversations, constructing a certain narrative thread, at the same time as it is fragmented alluding to spaces that we do not see through the screen and to interstitial times that interrupt and reveal a continuous working present. In the same way, the images partially invade other pages, trying to allude, overall, to the new geographies of the work within the frame of deterritorialization and accelerated communications.<\/p>\n
